Kapra Vista......From the beginning....

About that time we were very fortunate to meet Ruth and George Yaple who owned Keloma Saanens. We were so impressed with the size and beauty of the Saanen that the Toggenburg was quickly replaced by Saanens of our own!  From then on, we learned all of the basics of goat care-from hoof trimming and disbudding to the importance of providing them with the best of everything we could--from the Yaple's. We are so grateful to have had these people as our mentors, starting us off in the right direction and always being there for help and advice.

Over the years, we have added animals from time to time, but most of the does in our herd are based on two lines. The Purebred line entered the herd with the purchase of Sweet Harvest Santana. Santana was a small yearling when we saw her at a show, placing last in the class. At the time, we owned her half brother, Sweet Harvest Flashdance and when Santana was offered for sale, we were thrilled to get her.

The next spring, she had grown considerably and started winning GCH at the shows and for several years was a joy to own and show, easily earning her permanent GCH! As a four year old, she was NSBA Reserve All American. Over the years she produced several beautiful daughters and a couple of sons who worked in our herd.

In 1988, we purchased an American doe from Sharon Richardson of the Little Paradise herd. Her name was Little Paradise Tempt N Winds. She was beautiful as a kid and remained that way for the eleven years she shared with us. Her offspring are very consistent in both conformation and production and nearly every American Saanen in the herd traces back to Winds. She was a permanent Grand Champion, as well as our first Top Ten milking doe. High production and high components are a trademark of her line.

Several bucks from the Little Paradise herd also played a large part in marking our herd what is is today and we thank Sharon for sharing some of her best with us. Through the purchase of bucks and artificial insemination, we also added many lines from the Lake Country herd.  These genetics seemed to blend beautifully with the does in the herd and played a big part in developing the herd as it is today.

So, following are a few photos of the does and bucks from our past who added their qualities to our genetics to make the current Kapra Vista Saanens. We are grateful to all who worked hard to breed a better Saanen and for the fact that we were able to benefit from their commitment.

Windchaser was a littermate to Kapra Vista Winds Mariah 6*M 90 VEEE @ 6 yrs, who sired
Whisperwood C Mariah's Monet 7*M  90 VVEE @ 4 yrs and *B Mariah's Midas, both of whom
went to the Willow Run herd.

Windsor produced beautiful daughters and they milked well!
He was on the USDA Sire Summary for several years.

Fara Zangbe C I'm A Winner was a Commander daughter out of
Kapra Vista Flashing Windmere (Sweet Harvest Flashdance X Little Paradise Tempt N Winds)

Powder is dam to SG Kapra Vista Tsaesar P Whitley and GCH Kapra Vista Tsaesar Whitney.
Whitney is the dam to Kapra Vista Tsarus Witness who is the dam to Kapra Vista Sage Whirlpool. Whitley is the dam to *B Kapra Vista Sno Phoenix.

Poetry is the dam to Kapra Vista Phoenix Piper 89 VEEE @ 2 yrs. and
Kapra Vista Wahoo Phase

Pledge produced two sons of interest:
Kapra Vista Sho Prevail-N-Winds in the Briarwind herd and
Kapra Vista Mac Pledgehill in the Poplar Hill herd

Whispers has a son, +*B Kapra Vista Whisper of Thunder in the Briarwind herd.
She was also dam to Kapra Vista Taesar Whitewater  89 VEEE @ 2 yrs. (FF)

Windlass is the dam to Kapra Vista Wait N 4 Winds and Kapra Vista Icon Wonder

Brisa had two Top Ten records and was a hard working doe.
At six years old, she presented us with FIVE kids and still milked
3957 in 305, extended to 4075 before she was dry.

Knight had a great impact on the herd for the short time he was here.
He was consistent in producing high production does who appraised
very well. He has several daughters with Top Ten records.

Winter Winds was a son of SGCH Little Paradise Tempt N Winds who
was sired by *B Kapra Vista Doin It With Style
(sired by ++*N Companeros Lots of Style).
Winter Winds went to the Tim Tam herd.

Thunder was sired by ++*B Whisperwood C. Mariah's Midas, a Winds grandson.
Enoala is the dam to Kapra Vista Icon Eneeya and Kapra Vista Sarrano Enyatta.

Enchantress is the dam to GCH Briar Bay Snack Fairy *M 90 VEEE @ 3 yrs.

Lovin Bear was a son of View Ridge Running Bear out of Little Paradise's Cherub.
Sarae was a daughter of GCH Sweet Harvest Santana.

Sequin produced two sons of note,
++*B Kapra Vista Hear MI Thunder, by ++*B Whisperwood C. Mariah's Midas;
and *B Kapra Vista Mid-Knight Special, sired by +*B Cherrypines Stary Knight.
Special had a sable sister, Kapra Vista Knight Shade 3*M who lived in the
Briarwind herd and appraised excellent, milking over 3000#.
